CHAOS ECL Classic Series Rod | 50-100/ Slick Butt/ 6FT
A great 50-class rod featuring a fast taper e-glass rod blank that provides sensitivity and strength, wrapped with Fuji Turbo guides. This rod is tough but still relatively light for a 50 class rod. Usually used for trolling 50-80 lb. line with 30 LRSA or 50 class reels. This model is built as a one-piece rod with a hard fiber slick butt. Similar models available with a two-piece aluminum butt and with an AFTCO three-piece Storabutt designed for optimal storage. Since we build each rod in our shop, rods can also be wrapped in custom colors and your monogram, boat name, or other logo can be added at minimal additional cost.
Customization Option
CHAOS Rods are built one at time in our Florida shop. For that reason, we can customize your rods to meet your needs. We can alter the length of rods or grips to your preference, and change guides and components as requested. We can also personalize the appearance of your rod to match an existing set, add your initials or boat name, or completely customize the rod color, wrap, and even add an image of the target species on the rod. Some options are available online, but if you don't see exactly what you want call us at 877-337-9591 and we'll gladly accommodate your requests.

Field Report
Real-World Review: Flex, Fuji Guides, and Offshore Reliability
After fishing a number of different offshore rods over the years, this angler found the CHAOS ECL 50-100 6FT 2PC to be a strong fit for their trolling setup, pairing it with 50W Avet reels spooled with 80 lb braid and an 80 lb mono topshot. What stood out most was the rod’s balance of power and flex. Rather than feeling like a heavy “broomstick,” the blank keeps a deep, responsive bend that lets the angler feel the fish, maintain steady pressure, and stay connected throughout the fight. The use of genuine Fuji turbo guides was another key factor, offering a more dependable option than lower-cost turbo clone guides, which the angler had previously failed.
Compared to roller guide setups, which can create issues with wind-on leaders and swivels jamming in the guides, the Fuji turbo guide configuration provided a practical, reliable choice for offshore trolling without adding unnecessary cost.

Still unsure? Call +1-877-337-9591. You'll talk to a builder, not a sales rep.
-
What type of fishing is the CHAOS ECL Classic 50-100 Slick Butt rod built for?
This rod is built for serious offshore trolling and stand-up fishing. It is commonly used with 50-80 lb line and 30 LRSA or 50 class reels, making it a strong choice for targeting tuna, wahoo, mahi, billfish, sharks, and other hard-pulling offshore species.
-
What size reel pairs best with this rod?
The CHAOS ECL 50-100 is typically paired with 30 LRSA or 50 class reels. Many anglers use it with 50W-style reels spooled with heavy braid and a mono topshot for offshore trolling applications.
-
What line class is this rod rated for?
This model is rated for 50-100 lb line. It is most often used for trolling setups in the 50-80 lb range, while still offering the backbone needed for heavier offshore work.
-
Is this rod a one-piece or two-piece model?
This specific model is built as a one-piece rod with a hard fiber slick butt. Similar CHAOS models are also available with a two-piece aluminum butt or an AFTCO three-piece Storabutt for easier storage and transport.
-
What is the benefit of the one-piece construction?
The one-piece build provides clean power transfer from tip to butt with no ferrules or connection points interrupting the blank’s natural bend. This helps the rod load smoothly under drag, maintain pressure on the fish, and deliver a solid, dependable feel during long fights.
-
What is a hard fiber slick butt used for?
The hard fiber slick butt is designed to slide smoothly in and out of rod holders while also pairing cleanly with a fighting belt or harness. It adds durability and control in the section of the rod that sees heavy use during trolling and stand-up fights.
-
Why choose Fuji Turbo guides instead of roller guides?
Fuji Turbo guides offer a reliable, practical option for offshore trolling without the added cost and maintenance of roller guides. They can also help avoid some common roller-guide issues, such as wind-on leaders or swivels jamming in the rollers.
