Oversized stainless steel gears transfer extreme power silently, while the Advanced Tournament Drag system keeps the reel cool during extended battles. Corrosion-resistant ball bearings ensure long-term reliability in saltwater environments.
Spooling Option
Select from standard spooling options listed in the drop-down menu above, or let us know how you would like your reel spooled. Custom spooling including top-shots, wind-ons, hollow-core backing, and fluorocarbon are available. Call or send a note with your requirements and we’ll advise costs. All reels are machine spooled under ideal tension, braid is spooled with approximately 50 feet of mono backing. Wind-on leaders are offered for both hollow core and non-hollow braid, hollow core is spliced and non-hollow braid is connected loop-to-loop with a bimni twist.

Built with oversized, polished stainless steel gears that allow you to seamlessly drop from a high-speed line recovery gear into a low-ratio power gear for maximum winching torque against deep-water fish.
Ergonomic Leverage Arm
Designed with size-specific cranking configurations, featuring quick-grip soft rubber handles on smaller models and transitioning to extra-long, machined silver aluminum T-Bars on big-game sizes for enhanced structural leverage.

Does this reel come in a left-hand retrieve model?
No, the Daiwa Saltiga LD Two-Speed series is built only in a right-hand retrieve. Left-handed anglers should look into the Saltiga Star Drag or Saltiga SJ single-speed jigging series.

Why do I see two different handles in the pictures?
The smaller sizes of the Salitga LD Two-Speed (15-40) come standard with the black rubber handle, while the larger sizes (50-80) come with the silver aluminum T-bar handle. The silver T-bar handle is compatible with the smaller sizes, but you would need to purchase a factory spare or aftermarket piece to install- boxes don't come standard with additional handles.

How do I shift between speeds during a fight?
You can easily shift between the two speeds for this reel by pushing the flush button located at the base of the handle arm to instantly drop into low-gear power mode. To shift back into high gear, you slide the release trigger located on the handle shank.

What is the difference between high gear and low gear retrieves?
High gear recovers line quickly (up to 48.6 inches per turn based on size) to bring in slack or chase fast fish. Low gear cuts the retrieve rate in half to give you maximum mechanical leverage for winching up heavy bottom fish.
