CHAOS Rodzilla Tournament Series 6FT Rod

The CHAOS Rodzilla is built for standup fishing for monsters. AFTCO wind-on rollers provide clearance for larger knots and leaders, and they are built with either a straight or curved butt to accommodate larger reels. Great for chasing big tuna and effective for Wahoo trolling and Swordfish, this rod is becoming a favorite for fighting Marlin from a standup harness. Since we build each in our shop, rods can be wrapped in custom colors and your monogram, boat name, or transom logo can be added at minimal additional cost.

Customization Option

CHAOS Rods are built one at time in our Florida shop. For that reason, we can customize your rods to meet your needs. We can alter the length of rods or grips to your preference, and change guides and components as requested. We can also personalize the appearance of your rod to match an existing set, add your initials or boat name, or completely customize the rod color, wrap, and even add an image of the target species on the rod. Some options are available online, but if you don't see exactly what you want call us at 877-337-9591 and we'll gladly accommodate your requests.

AFTCO Wind-On rollers give you all the room you need for wind-on leaders, large knots, and heavy mono or fluorocarbon connections to pass through your guides without friction. This allows your leader to get closer to the boat during the final stages of the fight.

I reached out to the CHAOS team looking for guidance on a trolling setup, and CHAOS helped me select two rods that would fit the type of offshore fishing I do.   • Should I get the #2 Straight, #2 Curved, or #4 Curved Butt for this rod?

    The butt you choose depends on your fishing setup and preferred fighting style. The #2 Straight Butt is good for traditional stand-up fishing, trolling in a rod holder, or if you're using 30W or 50W reels. The #2 Curved Butt will work best with a standup harness or bucket seat. If you're fishing with big, high-capacity reels like 80W or large electric reels, you'll want the #4 Curved Butt for deep-dropping or heavy swordfishing.

  • Will my Shimano Tiagra or Penn International 50W fit on this rod?

    Our Rodzilla Tournament Series, especially the #2 Curved or Straight Butt options, are the perfect rod to pair with standard 50-class big game reels like the Shimano Tiagra 50W or Penn International VIW. For bigger 80-class reels, we recommend the #4 Curved Butt variation for a better fit and extreme torque.

  • Can the wind-on roller guides handle heavy braided line, or will it slip into the sides of the rollers?

    Unlike cheap roller guides that can pinch or trap your braid, the premium AFTCO Wind-On Roller Guides used on the our Tournament Series Rodzilla are precision-machined with ultra-tight tolerances. These guides are built and battle-tested to handle everything from heavy hollow-core braid to thick monofilament or fluorocarbon wind-on leaders without fail.

  • Is a 6-foot rod too long for serious heavy standup swordfishing or marlin fighting?

    Not at all, because the functional blank is actually shorter than it sounds. The rod is built on a ultra-stiff Rainshadow FSU 5'6" blank, and the remaining length comes from the aluminum butt. Because the rod locks into a deep, powerful bend early in the blank, the short 5'6" working radius takes massive leverage away from the fish and gives it back to the angler, making it comfortable for grueling, hours-long battles in a harness.
