CHAOS Light Inshore 7ft Spinning Rod and Shimano SLX DC Baitcasting Reel Combo
The CHAOS Light Inshore 7FT Spinning Rod / Shimano SLX DC Baitcasting Reel Combo brings together high-end lightweight components to form a versatile, tech-forward coastal setup.
While the CHAOS rod blank features spinning guide configurations optimized for spinning reels, pairing it with the digital baitcasting SLX DC creates a specialized hybrid configuration. Many experimental finesse anglers choose this style of hybrid pairing to achieve unique line-control properties when flipping, skipping, or working artificial lures in dense mangrove lines.
Customization Option
CHAOS Rods are built one at time in our Florida shop. For that reason, we can customize your rods to meet your needs. We can alter the length of rods or grips to your preference, and change guides and components as requested. We can also personalize the appearance of your rod to match an existing set, add your initials or boat name, or completely customize the rod color, wrap, and even add an image of the target species on the rod. Some options are available online, but if you don't see exactly what you want call us at 877-337-9591 and we'll gladly accommodate your requests.

-
Can I still get my CHAOS Rod customized when I buy it in a Rod & Reel Combo?
Absolutely! You can still order monogramming and decal customization on your CHAOS rods, even when purchased as part of a Rod & Reel Combo!
-
How will the spinning guides affect my casting distance with the SLX DC baitcasting reel?
•
• The large stripping guide and different ring spacing on a spinning rod are designed for the wide, looping coils that fly off a spinning reel spool. Because a baitcasting reel releases line in a narrow, straight line, you may notice a slight reduction in maximum casting distance compared to a true casting rod due to line slap against the larger guides. -
What are the 4 settings on the SLX DC external braking dial used for?
• Setting 1: Maximum distance mode (for large lures and calm conditions).
• Setting 2: Standard braided or monofilament line mode.
• Setting 3: Fluorocarbon line mode (applies slightly more tension to prevent spool overrun).
• Setting 4: Skipping mode / Wind mode (maximum braking control to prevent backlashes when skipping lures under mangroves or throwing into a headwind). -
What line type and strength are ideal for this lightweight setup?
20 lb to 30 lb braided line is the sweet spot. Braided line handles beautifully on the SLX DC's spool and cuts through water resistance cleanly, allowing you to maximize the incredible tactile sensitivity of the lightweight CHAOS graphite blank.

-
What customizations can I get on my CHAOS Rod?
All of our CHAOS Rods can be customized with a monogram and/or decal of your choice. We have a variety of fonts and decals available to make your rod one-of-a-kind!
-
Does this rod ship with a tube or sock?
Every CHAOS rod ships in a hard-shell rod tube with a cloth sock inside. Tube carries the CHAOS logo and a SKU label so it is easy to grab the right rod out of the locker.
