Available in sizes 150 through 500, each Tranx reel is engineered with Shimano’s cutting-edge technology to give anglers the strength and confidence needed to battle hard-fighting fish across any environment.

Tranx 150 & 200 – Compact, lightweight, and palmable, these reels are perfect for freshwater predators like bass, pike, and musky, as well as inshore targets such as redfish, snook, and sea trout. With quick gearing and buttery-smooth drag, they provide effortless casting and precise control for lures and smaller baits.

Tranx 300 & 400 – Designed for versatility and power, these midsize reels are a favorite for throwing big swimbaits, topwaters, and jerkbaits to trophy freshwater fish, while also excelling in saltwater when chasing stripers, jacks, or school-sized tuna. They deliver exceptional line capacity and cranking power without sacrificing castability.

Tranx 500 – The heavyweight of the lineup, the Tranx 500 is built for serious saltwater duty. With massive line capacity, reinforced gearing, and a powerful drag system, it’s ready for offshore jigging, live baiting, or targeting big game species like tuna, grouper, and amberjack.
Across the series, Shimano’s HEG (High Efficiency Gearing), X-Ship technology, and CoreProtect water-resistant coating ensure strength, smoothness, and long-lasting reliability. Whether you’re casting all day for bass, pulling lures for stripers, or going toe-to-toe with offshore bruisers, there’s a Shimano Tranx reel designed to match your style of fishing.
Select from standard spooling options listed in the drop-down menu above, or let us know how you would like your reel spooled. Custom spooling including top-shots, wind-ons, hollow-core backing, and fluorocarbon are available. Call or send a note with your requirements and we'll advise costs. All reels are machine spooled under ideal tension, braid is spooled with approximately 50 feet of mono backing. Wind-on leaders are offered for both hollow core and non-hollow braid, hollow core is spliced and non-hollow braid is connected loop-to-loop with a bimni twist.
